Art Commission Terms and Conditions
Thank you for considering my art commissions! Please take a moment to review the following terms and conditions to understand how the commission process works.
1. Usage Rights
All commissioned artworks are intended for personal use only. I will retain full copyright and ownership of the artwork. If you are interested in commercial rights or licensing, please get in touch with me directly to discuss options.
2. Payment Terms
Payment must be made in full before the commencement of any work on the commission.
3. Cancellation and Refund Policy
If you choose to cancel your commission, the refund amount will be based on the progress made on your piece:
No work started: Full refund minus payment processing fees.
Work in progress (less than 50% completed): 50% refund.
Work in progress (more than 50% completed): No refund.
4. Completion Timeframe
Typically, commissions are completed within 1-3 weeks, with a maximum timeframe of one month. After the painting is complete, there will be a drying period of 2-3 weeks, followed by the application of a varnish to protect the artwork. Once the varnish has dried, the painting will be packaged and shipped. If you have a specific deadline, please inform me at the time of ordering.
5. Requirements for Animal Portraits
To create an accurate animal portrait, please provide at least one high-quality photograph of your pet, preferably with clear and natural lighting. The better the photo, the better the portrait will be.
6. Landscapes
For landscape commissions, a preliminary sketch will be provided for your approval before the painting begins. Please note that major changes to the composition cannot be made once the painting phase starts.
7. Vehicles
For vehicle portraits, only one vehicle is included in the final artwork by default. If you wish to include additional vehicles, this can be arranged for an extra charge. My standard approach for vehicles includes an abstract color splash or impressionistic background, but a detailed background scene is available for an additional fee.
8. Abstract Backgrounds
For abstract backgrounds, you may suggest a preferred background color to match your decor or indicate a favorite color, and I will do my best to incorporate it. Alternatively, I can select a background that complements the subject.
9. Additional Features
Standard animal portraits include an abstract color splash background. If you desire additional elements such as flowers or a detailed background scene, there will be an additional fee.
10. Approval Process
I generally complete the painting before showing it to the client, though minor adjustments can be made afterward. If you prefer to review a sketch for approval before I start the final painting, please request this option.
11. Right to Decline
I reserve the right to refuse any commission request.
12. Shipping and Taxes
For physical prints, paper, canvases, and panels, the buyer is responsible for any applicable taxes and customs fees for international shipments.
13. Photograph-Based Commissions
Please discuss any changes needed from the provided photograph before the work starts and include these details in your initial request. Most of my work will be done directly from a photo and if additional photoshoping is needed before work begins, this may result in an additional cost (depending on the complexity of the change requested).
